Halloween | Scary Movies

Following on from my Friendly Halloween movies post (read me), I thought I'd put together a list of scary halloween movies. I'm not easily scared by movies, but here are my top 10 movies that sent shivers down my spine!

1. 1408
This actually scared me shitless, I vowed never to watch it again! Mike Eslin, a man who specialises in debunking paranormal occurrences takes on room 1408 at the Dolphin Hotel and is confronted with genuine terror.

2. The Changeling (1980)
No, not the Angelina Jolie Changeling! A classic haunting movie where a man staying in a mansion is haunted by the presence of a spectre.

3. Carrie (1976)
If you haven't seen Carrie, why not? A social outcast discovers she has telekinesis, when she is invited to her prom she is pushed to her limits. Plug it up!

4. Candyman
Don't say his name three times! Candyman is a murderous soul with a hook for a hand, summoned by the skeptical Helen Lyle as she researches his myth.

5. The Exorcism of Emily Rose
Possessions freak me out, those jerky movements and black eyes! A lawyer takes on the case of the death of Emily Rose. The priest who performed the exorcism is being tried for negligent homicide.

6. The Exorcist
What list would be complete without The Exorcist? People even died during the production! Regan is possessed by a mysterious entity when her mother seeks the help of two priests to help save her daughter.

7. A Nightmare on Elm Street
1, 2 Freddie's coming for you. A man with burn scars and knives for fingers that will kill you in your dreams, Freddie is terrifying!

8. REC
Inspired by The Blair Witch Project, REC is a "caught on camera" movie. A building is locked down when  woman wearing a blood stained dress attacks the residents. Imagine being stuck in there with nowhere to go?

9. The Grudge
Okay she creeps me out. The noises she makes, the way she moves, her face. Everything. Next.

10. IT
Possibly the creepiest clown in the world. Ever. This film actually gave me nightmares. In 1960 a group of kids are haunted by an evil demon posing as a clown, who comes back for them 30 years later. I just shivered.

So they're my top 10 scary films to watch this Halloween!
Which films will you be watching?

Halloween | Friendly Movies

With Halloween fast approaching, I thought I'd put together a list of none scary Halloween movies for all you none horror lovers out there.

When I was younger, I was a massive wimp and didn't even like Scream masks (okay, they still freak me out a bit now) but I love horror films now. Unfortunately Pete isn't a fan of scary films, which inspired me to write this post.

Here are my top 10 Friendly Halloween Movies:

1. Hocus Pocus
This has got to be the BEST halloween movie of all time. Witches come back from the dead to steal children away.

2. The Nightmare Before Christmas
Arguably a Christmas film, but I don't believe in Christmas being taken away, therefore it's a Halloween film! Who doesn't love Jack Skellington?

3. Corpse Bride
Another Tim Burton classic. Victor enters the world of the dead when he proposes to a corpse. This causes some complications for his arranged marriage to Victoria. I love the contrast between the living and the dead in this film.

4. Coraline
Still very creepy for a kids film, Coraline enters the Other world because she doesn't like her real parents. When her Other Mother and Other Father seem perfect, Coraline revisits them time and time again, not realising there are consequences if she wants to stay.

5. Paranorman
Norman sees dead people. A misunderstood boy, Norman takes on ghosts, zombies and grown-ups to save his town from a centuries-old curse. This is definitely a good family watch!

6. Casper
This was the first film I saw in the cinema. Harvey, a paranormal researcher, moves to a haunted house where the friendly ghost who resides there, befriends his daughter, Kat.

7. Monster House
Three teenagers discover their neighbours house is actually a monster. My little brothers used to love this, and called the old man, Mr Ecklefecker. His name is Nevercracker.

8. Beetlejuice
A recently deceased couple call upon the Bio-Exorcist, Beetlejuice to evict the current occupiers of their home. Don't say his name three times!

9. Haunted Mansion
What Eddie Murphy film isn't great? Jim Evers and his family are summoned when they discover it is haunted. They have a ride in Disney World which scared the bejesus out of me!

10. The Addams Family
What list would be complete without the Addams Family? Con artists plan to fleece the eccentric family using an accomplice who claims to be their long lost Uncle Fester. Yep, I secretly want to be Wednesday Addams.

Which films will you be watching this Halloween?

Halloween | Día de Muertos

Please excuse my iPhone selfies
Halloween is fast approaching and since Peter and I are hosting a Halloween party, I thought I'd best make an effort this year. I created this Day of the Dead Look using the below products:

My mum bought the Laval foundation in white from eBay for about £1.99. I used a simple black eyeshadow round my eyes, then added some depth with the blues from my Makeup Revolution Give them Nightmares palette (best £6 I ever spent!). I used the red eyeshadow under my black eyes for some warmth and as blush on the hollows of my cheeks. I used black pencil eyeliner to draw on the spider web (not pictured, oops) and red lipliner for the decoration.  I painted my nose with black Barry M lipstick. To finish off this look, I added purple lips.

I'm no makeup artist, but I'm pretty pleased with the way this turned out, even if it is a bit rough!

What are you dressing up as for Halloween?
Share your looks in the comments below, I'd love to see them.

Family | What Jegz & George Did

After a weekend in our pyjamas, I decided George and I should take a walk into our local town centre, so this morning, we had breakfast, got dressed and headed off with the intention of just buying Infacol (for George) and makeup for me, then going back home for a day of housework. (Yep, the exciting life of a mum!)

Setting off at 12.15 (it takes 10 minutes for us to walk into town), we saw the world and his wife and didn't get home until just after 3pm! I bumped into my nan, so we had a nice little lunch together before heading off. All in all it was a pretty successful day out because it meant I got to show off my little man, I hate going out and not seeing anyone I know!

I have a major love/ hate relationship with Revlon Colour Stay Foundation and after reading some great reviews of the Rimmel Match Perfection, I thought I'd pick it up. It's one of the rare drug store foundations that comes pale enough for my skin tone! I picked these MUA lip liners for £1 each, bargain, I can't wait to try them. I want to play with all my new makeup right now!

There's such a massive hype around Makeup Revolution at the moment, so I picked up these lipsticks, nice dark berry colours for Autumn/ Winter, again, a bargain at £1! What more can a girl want?

Anyway, enough of my ramblings.

Life Lately | September

September was a bit of a "meh" month for me as my due date passed me by, I slowly got fed up of people asking "are you still here?" and becoming more and more impatient for my little bundle to arrive. Here's what happened in September:

Selfie at  my Grandad's birthday meal // My brother and his girlfriend stole my phone // Aztec nails // Morning of reading Darren Shan // My baby boy all swollen after he finally arrived // My new mug off my lovely friend, Heather // I can drink cider now // ASOS sale finds // Ditched the maternity clothes.

Since we got home from the hospital, we have had visitors most days, so this month we've just been settling in with our new addition!

How was your September?
